About

Just who in the hell is Jason Bertrand? Jason has always taken the road less traveled and built his business with hard work, dedication and without compromise. You might even say he goes against the grain, but then again, that is what sets him apart from all the noise.

In early 2011, legendary producer and Swamper, Jimmy Johnson took Jason into Blackbird Studios in Nashville to begin recording his debut album. On July 4th, 2011, “True, Original, American Country” was released.

Jason is a reality check for those unsuspecting fans who thought they were out for just another night. The drums thunder, guitars twang and fans sing along as if the band and crowd were all one. Emotion, sweat and music, all working together in perfect harmony.

Jason’s travels have taken him across the country and back, playing festivals and sharing stages with many of the biggest names in Country music. From small town bars to big city venues and everywhere in between, each stop earning more fans and in...

Jason’s travels have taken him across the country and back, playing festivals and sharing stages with many of the biggest names in Country music. From small town bars to big city venues and everywhere in between, each stop earning more fans and introducing the masses to what “True, Original, American Country” is all about. Word of mouth is still a powerful thing....and it’s not bought with money.

  • “ DECATUR — When people learn he hails from Bourbonnais, they tend to give Jason Bertrand an odd look. Based on his look of a cowboy as the frontman for his raucous band The Haymakers, Bourbonnais seems an unlikely place of origin for a rising performer of traditional country music. But a closer look into the songwriter’s childhood reveals the seeds of his career. “Through the recording process, we were using a lot of the same session players as the major artists in town, and they kind of came up with this ‘true, original, American’ moniker for me because of the songs I was writing,” Bertrand said. “If you ask my opinion, I’d say the name means ‘true stories about real life, without embellishment.’ It all happened to me, good or bad. I’m nothing special really, just someone who tries to bust his tail.” Click on the link for full article.”

  • “The self-proclaimed "True, Original, American Country" band played a heavy dose of Rock 'N' Roll last Saturday night promoting their first full album, "Home." Sure, the crowd are up every inch of frontman Jason Bertrand's original country tracks, tunes like "Drunk Dialin" and "She Rides Horses." But by the time all the PBR soaked in, a cover of AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" just felt right. That the 75 minute show stretched to 120 underscores just how much fun everyone, band included, was having. If they make it big----remember it started here.”

  • “Jason and the Haymakers by Pam Powell Thursday, November 3, 2011 My friend, Jacki, convinced me to stop by The Fieldhouse in Bourbonnais to listen to a country band. Now, country is not my favorite genre and that's putting it mildly, but Jacki is a friend and when a friend asks me to do something, I'm there! Jason and the Haymakers packed The Fieldhouse! There were no open tables and it was wall to wall people! As I chatted with those around me, there were several fans of this group along with newbies, like myself. Jason Bertrand, the songwriter/guitarist/vocalist in this trio, pleasantly surprised this unsuspecting country fan. Yes, that's right. I enjoyed listening to country music! SHOCKING! This was a talented group and I hope to have the pleasure of listening to them again at The Looney Bin in Bradley on November 23rd. It's either that or prepare for a houseful of Thanksgiving Day guests! I think Jason and the Haymakers are going to win this battle!”
